Full-Sweat is an acid electrolyte replacer for horses in hot or humid conditions. This acid base acts as a buffer to alkalosis, which is caused by heavy sweating. Full-Sweat helps to prevent dehydration, as well as correcting fluid balance.
Full-Sweat contains sodium, potassium and chloride ions. These three lost ions are predominately lost via sweat, as well as magnesium and calcium. Most importantly, Full-Sweat does not contain bicarbonate, which increases alkalosis in the body. Full-Sweat also contains glucose, which aids in the absorption of electrolytes as well as providing energy.
Full-Sweat is designed to be used either as an everyday supplement, or as required by the horse. It can be mixed in with the feed, as a regular supplement, added to the drinking water, especially during hot and/or humid weather, or used as a stomach drench.
Full-Sweat is suitable for horses that suffer from electrolyte depletion through heavy sweating in hot, humid conditions or due to prolonged endurance exercise; an aid in the treatment of alkalosis, hypochloraemia and dehydration (when administered in water). Loss of electrolytes though sweat can also lead to tying-up.
Full-Sweat is recommended for horses that work at moderate speed over extended periods, as well as for the horse that sweats excessively. Horses that do a lot of trotting or cantering are most likely to require the use of an acid electrolyte such as Full-Sweat. Some endurance horses can lose over 60 litres of sweat a day, leaving them vunerable to fatigue and poor recovery from exercise and/or performance. This includes pacers, eventers, endurance horses, dressage horses, show horses, showjumpers and general performance horses.
Although the regular use of sodium chloride in the horses diet will help to replace some of the electrolytes lost (such as sodium and chloride), it will not replace the other essential elements (potassium, magnesium and calcium) nor will it act as a buffer to alkalosis. Therefore by using Full-Sweat, your horse will be receiving all the essential requirements for combating electrolyte loss, as well as maintaining their optimum performance level.
Directions for Use:
Horses (450kg): To replace electrolytes lost through heavy sweating, mix 45g (1.5 scoops) into the feed daily. Daily dose may be divided between morning and evening feeds. Alternatively, Full-Sweat may be administered as a drench following exercise, or mixed into the drinking water.
Drench: Maximum 90g (3 scoops) in 4L of water.
Drinking Water: Dissolve 45g (1.5 scoops) in 25L of water.
Ensure an adequate supply of clean, fresh drinking water is available at all times.
