Boric Acid has mild insecticidal and fly repellant properties. However, when used in excessive amounts on large wounds, boron toxicity may occur from absorption. Zinc Oxide acts as a skin protective, astringent, with antiseptic properties. Salicylic Acid is a relatively insoluble desiccant (drying agent), antiseptic and also a fungicide.
