Heartgard Plus (Ivermectin)

Heartgard Plus is a monthly chew for dogs in the prevention of heartworm disease and the treatment and control of roundworm and hookworm. Heartworm larvae acquired up to 4 months before commencement of Heartgard Plus will be controlled if monthly treatment is continued for 12 months.

The usual dose of ivermectin in dogs up to 11kg is 68mcg – 1 cube from blue pack, for 12 to 22 kg is 136mcg – 1 cube from green pack and for 23 to 45 kg is 272mcg – 1 cube from brown pack.  Dogs over 45 kg are given a combination of the tablets.

Cubes can be administered by hand or with food.

Heartgard Plus is safe for use in puppies as young as 6 weeks, small dogs regardless of weight, pregnant or breeding bitches.
